Summer of 2021

I have been anxious about sharing any news on the retreats here on the website. I am mindful that plans can be made and broken in equal measures…. I don’t want to get my hopes up, or yours.  Up to now, the possibility of us gathering has felt very tenuous. However, most recently, the tide has shifted ever so slightly, and I am feeling optimistic, for the first time in a long while.  The vaccine is getting out into the world. People are starting to leave their bubbles and move, carefully and safely, around the world.  So why shouldn’t we be able to gather this Summer here in Maine to re-connect and re-charge?  I am choosing to believe we will.

So these are my plans as they stand, today, March 18th.  I will run the Slow Fashion retreat July 18-24 at Medomak retreat Center in Washington, ME. Slow Stitching will happen August 1-7 at the same location.  I have a couple of teachers lined up, pending vaccine availability and travel access. Think I will hold off announcing them for a bit more to confirm as much as possible first. Some of our folks are in the mix, some need to sit out a year. We may need to ramp all this up and make decisions faster than I would normally like this year.  I am hoping that doesn’t stress anyone out. (Anymore than we are already stressed, that is…)  I am hoping that having the dates will help anyone interested in coming to make whatever tentative plans they need, or can, at this stage.

I will try and stick to our format from previous years as much as possible, but obviously things will be different by necessity. I am hoping that the simple ability to gather and share will be a large motivator for most who want to attend. 2022 will likely be the year we return in full strength…. Yet, still, unless the virus re-emerges in a new and destructive manner, I will be at Medomak this Summer and I hope to see some of you there with me.  If you have any questions feel free to reach out.  I miss these gatherings so much I can taste it. To be able to be together and share our love of stitching and making this Summer will be beyond sweet. I am going to do everything I can to make sure we can do it safely and securely, and with great love….
